Helping you conceive it’s in our DNA

Progenyx supports the reproductive health of both partners, promoting egg, sperm and foetus development and giving your child a head start

The best possible start

Progenyx provides essential nutrients needed for egg and sperm formation and maturation as well as foetal development. It supports the one-carbon cycle, a critical cellular system associated with DNA and chromosomal integrity; it is also indispensable for normal epigenetic adaptations. Complete support of the one-carbon cycle can improve the chances of having a baby and provide them with the best possible foundation for a healthy life.

Who can benefit?

The short answer is anyone trying to conceive - male & female. You have likely been directed here by a specialist fertility practitioner so that you can assess whether our products are right for you. We aim to provide all the information you need, including references to published peer-reviewed studies, to decide whether we can help.

Regulatory Compliance

We are specialists in supporting fertility and reproductive experts, manufacturing products that can help them improve your chances of having a baby. We constantly communicate to gauge their feedback and to share information regarding the latest research worldwide. Our discussions centre around the actions of the active ingredients in our products and how they can help you. In compliance with European and governmental guidelines we are not permitted to share that information directly with you but we can inform you about the latest research of the active ingredients. The research demonstrates some marked benefits but we are only allowed to report the benefit in relation to the particular ingredient rather than the combination as a whole. We hope this resource helps explain the stages of preparing to and having a baby and how Progenyx can tip the balance.

Critical Epigenetic Resets

Major epigenetic resets occur twice throughout our lives:

  1. when sperm and eggs are formed

  2. when they combine to form the zygote (fertilised egg).

All methylation sites are cleared so the new individual can begin afresh; any errors in their parents' DNA are removed. These resets must occur in a positive epigenetic environment to remove any methylation errors and minimise the chances of any negative changes occurring.

Positive Epigenetic Environment

What do we mean by a positive epigenetic environment? You can think of DNA as the two parts of a zip that open and close to allow a gene to be read. When closed, the teeth are tightly joined in a secure state; once opened the teeth are exposed and may be attacked by free radicals present in every cell and usually controlled by other cellular processes. Free radicals can oxidise cellular components: if the DNA is attacked a methylation site might be created or deleted, permanently altering the cell and its daughter cells.

The protective cellular mechanism is the one-carbon cycle which relies upon a regular and constant supply of certain essential metabolites including vitamins B2, B6, B12, folic acid, L-cysteine and betaine to function correctly. If an individual has insufficient metabolites he/she is more vulnerable to free radicals: they may experience oxidative stress. Some people choose commercial multivitamin brands that contain antioxidants thinking they will help; however, direct antioxidants (e.g. Vitamins A, C, E, Selenium, CoQ etc) are non-discriminatory and can overshoot causing reductive stress.

What is Progenyx?

Progenyx tablets provide essential metabolites to assist the production of the highest quality sperm & eggs. Studies show the chances of conceiving and having a healthy baby depend on your epigenetic health status during the formation of sperm and eggs and as the baby develops in the womb. The most critical times are 3 months before conception for men, 1 month for women and throughout pregnancy.

What is epigenetics?

Epigenetics relates to gene activation, particularly during the formation & maturation of the eggs, sperm and the baby. If genetics is our nature, epigenetics is how we are nurtured. Pollution, smoking, alcohol and poor diet can reduce fertility rates: sperm are particularly susceptible to damage as they can not self-repair; egg viability is equally important. Modern lifestyles and the environment can expose both to oxidative and reductive attacks that can impair fertility.

Genetics is the study of DNA and chromosomes.

Every cell in our body has the same genes but cell structures and functions can vary enormously from organ to organ & tissue to tissue. What makes a cell become, for example, a skin cell or a white blood cell? And can one be converted into the other? There must be a means by which cells specialise and remain specialised and generate new identical cells - that mechanism is epigenetics; it is how genes are activated and expressed.

Organs and tissues are formed by activating specific genes at the molecular level through a process called methylation. As the fertilised egg develops into a baby the original single cell (the zygote or fertilised egg) divides into two, those two cells divide and so on with subsequent divisions giving rise to increasingly specialised cells, eventually producing a fully formed baby after about 9 months. Methylation at specific sites in our DNA switches certain genes on/off informing the cell to become a particular type. The methylation sites on DNA endure within cell lines and are passed on to all cells of the same type in perpetuity so that the organ they are part of continues to perform its function correctly. Any errors in gene (in)activation also persist so what happens before conception and during gestation is critical to the future well-being of the baby.

Science-led specialist fertility products

We are a science-led organisation that has developed products to assist couples in completing their families. Fertility levels are falling worldwide so we try to explain why that might be and provide the means to improve outlooks for those affected. Progenyx can be used alone and with our complementary product, Replenitol, for additional assistance. Some couples choose to use it before heading down the assisted reproductive technology (ART e.g. IVF) route whilst others use it in conjunction with ART.

Male Fertility Boost

When couples seek medical assistance for subfertility, the male contribution may have been overlooked but it is a significant issue in up to half of all cases. A non-invasive, safe and convenient treatment containing metabolites shown to significantly improve sperm quality, motility & count is now available in Ireland and the UK. In addition, Progenyx tablets have a modified release profile to optimise the bioavailability of its active ingredients: it can provide maximum cellular support where and when needed taking just one tablet per day.

Direct v Indirect antioxidants (Sadeghi et al) (Dutta et al)

The one-carbon cycle is a regulatory cellular system that monitors the levels of and controls free radicals that can oxidise cell components. Some components need to undergo targeted oxidation to function correctly so maintaining the balance within normal limits is essential. If too many free radicals are produced some entities may be inappropriately oxidised, compromising the cell's capacity to function correctly. If a person has good nutritional health they should have all of the nutrients needed to feed the one-carbon cycle; unfortunately, modern diets tend to favour convenience over completeness of essential nutrients. Progenyx can supplement the diet so the cell's health is assured.

It was thought that oxidative attack by free radicals could be controlled by direct antioxidants such as vitamins A, C, E, selenium, CoQ etc. Whilst they can protect against oxidative attack if the cell's internal antioxidative capacity is limited, they can also act directly, attacking elements within the cell. The opposite of oxidation is reduction; if a cell in balance is bombarded with direct antioxidants reductive stress can arise. This is a significant side effect of some commercial vitamin mixtures; rather than improve fertility, they can exacerbate the problem. Before taking such products patients are advised to assess their oxidative and reductive capacity.

To improve fertility the treatment objective is to keep oxidative and reductive capacities in balance - i.e. to maintain REDOX balance. The ingredients in Progenyx provide the components of the one-carbon cycle which is only activated according to need. If the ingredients are not used, they are simply excreted. On the other hand, direct antioxidants are highly reactive and can reduce indiscriminately - useful in some instances but deleterious in many other cases.

As with pharmaceutically-active compounds we present the full information to medical specialists so they can assess it. Direct claims to end-users are not permitted, we are allowed to present peer-reviewed papers that prove effectiveness to you and quote the researchers directly. As a result, you may find certain sections of this site somewhat clumsily wordy for which we apologise.

If your doctor has recommended our products you can find out more and satisfy yourself that they are right for you.
